Company History:

It’s a good reason to introduce one of Austria’s oldest electronic trading enterprises from another perspective….

The company Lipschitz was founded as early as 1947 as a single venture. In 1956, two entreprising gentlemen, Mr. Lipschitz and Mr. Eder, transformed the single company into LIPSCHITZ & Co. Ltd., as indicated by the deed, which included – among other things – a “table- and typewriter standard” (!)…

The enterprise initially focused on selling adhesives for ski production, later becoming the exclusive representative of Multicore Solders, making it the company’s first and oldest foreign representation. Over time, it has solidified its position as a market leader and trendsetter for almost 50 years, ultimately leading to a direct entry into the industrial electronics business.

As the years passed, Mr. Eder retired, and Mr. Lipschitz sold a part of his ownership to Mr. Erdély, who established a new company. Shortly after, these two companies merged to the Lipschitz & Co. Ltd.

In 1977 Mr. Erich Synek – that time managing director of the AKG Canada – purchased the shares of the Lipschitz & Co Ltd. and took over the ownership and the direction of the company.

Under Mr. Synek’s management, and as a result of the activity of his sales manager, the company experienced a period of dynamic growth.

In 1989, Mr. Synek renamed the company to LICO Ltd., introduced a modern logo, and secured trademark protection.

In 1993, as a representative of the new generation, Mr. Hellmut Miksch, a seasoned producer of printed circuit boards, joined LICO as co-owner and managing director. With his energy, dedication, ideas, and plans, he brought new momentum to the company.

Shortly afterwards, in 1995, Mr. Miksch acquired the remaining shares, and the company was rebranded as LICO Electronics GmbH.

Although the “table- and typewriter standard” were no longer relevant, LICO, a company that preserved conservative values while being successful and dynamic enterprise, embracing innovation, offered a range of new products and services including fully automated data processing, controlling, and database systems for sale.

In 1995, the company focused on achieving ISO 9000 certification, which became a reality in July 1996.

In the 48th year of its existence, in 1995, first time in the history of the company, the LICO succeeded in presenting a new own product, the standard-conform and optically unique magnifier-lamp with a 190 mm lens-diameter, a LICO-novelty sold all over Europe, and parallel continued also the production and sales of cable and printed circuit boards as well as the trading with several other products.

The initial successes were particularly impressive, allowing a positive development structure. Export successes in Europe and worldwide were part of the daily business.

That same year, Mr. Hellmut Miksch decided to establish a second LICO enterprise, fully independent from the austrian LICO Electronics GmbH. This new company, LICO Hungaria Kft., was founded in Hungary, where it was intended to continue producing printed circuit boards and develop new meter-reading software.

The year 1996 started with the highest ever volume and level of orders and turnover, an achievement having been outstripped in 1997 again.

In 1996, LICO Hungaria Kft. successfully launched to sell its own-developed industrial software package. In 1997, the production of CA-PRI, the wiring harness production and PCB-Assembly were purchased and integrated.

Mr. Miksch remained committed to continually introducing new products and expanding the company’s scope of activities.

New product development began with fire prevention models, followed by the integration of new trading products and more.

Over time, it became clear that establishing a new LICO entity would be a great idea. In 2007, LICO Mecatronic SRL was established in Romania, initially focusing on producing and assembling LICO magnifier lamps and trading existing products. Later, the company expanded its activities to include industrial safety and security system installations.

Meanwhile, parallel with the trading of the Detect-A-Fire detectors and units LICO continuously developed its own safety fire prevention products, the LICO HDL-system, which product line offers a vast range of development and expansion opportunities for the global market in fire protection and prevention.

An expansion of the production area for the fire prevention products and for the magnifier lamp assembly became necessary, so in 2018 a new LICO has been established in Hungary, named LICO Mechatronic Kft., with the activity of manufacturing as well as trading.

Following the untimely and tragic passing of Mr. Hellmut Miksch in 2021, his wife, Mrs. Anita Miksch, took over the management of the LICO companies in Austria and Hungary. She has committed to continuing the legacy and vision established by her husband, keeping the company’s profile intact and open to new developments, while launching a new generation.

Our aim and intention remain unchanged – to build upon what Mr. Miksch created and worked towards, remaining competitive in the market, delivering exceptional service to our Customers, maintaining strong business relationships with our Partners, and continuing to develop our “LICO Group” true to our traditions, our dedication and our decades of history with great Gratitude to our Predecessors.

We, the LICO team, would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to
our valued Customers and Suppliers, business Partners,
for their enduring loyalty to us.
