PLATON Glass Variable Area Flowmeters:

A complete VA flowmeter consists of a glass flow tube and float scaled to the flow units required, and a frame to provide the end block supports and to cover and protect the tube. The NGX series frames use flow tubes with nominally 100mm long scales, whereas the smaller LGX frames use flow tubes with nominally 30mm scales.

To choose a complete flowmeter select the frame code required, and separately specify the fluid flow range needed on the flow tube scale. NGX and LGX series frames are designed to fit your process. The options available allow easy installation, usually surface
mounted on a vertical panel. Process connections and labelling can be customized to suit the application.

Applications:

Industrial process control, laboratory and research, food and beverage industry, automotive, pharmaceutical manufacturing any many more…

Platon Safety Housed GU VA Flowmeter:

Gapmeters type GU are glass tube Variable Area Flowmeters for direct display of liquid or gas flowrate. The GU housing provides a robust rigid frame, suitable for mounting directly into plant pipework, protecting the glass tube from pipework stress and random plant damage.

The safety Perspex window gives good flow visibility, while protecting the operator. A safety blowout disc on the rear of the housing provides a relief vent for process fluids, in case of glass tube damage.
Glass tube VA flowmeters are simple and reliable in operation, and instantaneous in response – they offer flow visualization to the operator, and the float rotation gives confirmation of correct meter performance. Standard tubes and floats offer low line pressure loss and a high resolution 100mm linear scale, fused into the glass tube. Fluid flow vertically upward through the tapered glass tube causes the float to rise to an equilibrium position. Flow rate is measured on the scale of the flow tube, along the top edge of the float.

The borosilicate glass tubes are individually scaled according to customers requirements, and individually flow calibrated.

Platon Plastic Tube VA Flow Meter(PG & PGU):

Gapmeters type PG and PGU are low cost direct reading variable area flowmeters for liquids or gases, in pipe sizes 1/2” or 1”.The shatterproof TPX moulded tapered indicator tube has a 100mm linear flow scale with a 10:1 flow range. The stain-less steel or Dural float rises with the flow to an equilibrium position -flow rate is read from the top of the float. Standard air and water scales are etched directly onto the plastic flow tube high float visibility, easily read at a distance.

Type PG is a lightweight, open construction ideal for surface mounting or portable use. For alternative process liquids or conditions, external laminated scales are provided positioned in front of the flow tube. Type PGU has a rigid 316 brushed stainless steel housing with a Polycarbonate window, giving complete protection from random damage: this flowmeter is suitable for unsupported mounting in process pipework. TPX plastic tubes are available with air or water scales etched into the flow tube. Glass tubes are also available, which can be supplied with custom scales to suit process conditions, in the PGU housing.

Platon GR/GRV Plastic VA Flow Meter:

The Platon GR/GRV flowmeters are moulded plastic tube variable area meters with ball floats. The precision molded tapered tube has guides to stabilise the float, allowing easy flow reading against the clear 50mm long scale. Units are available calibrated for air or water flows.

Typical applications are for operator monitoring of cooling, purging or sample flows. For simple adjustment of flow rates, the GRV option has a built in multi-turn flow control valve. Designed for vertical mounting on a control panel, the flowmeter is supplied with brackets for flush mounting through a cutout approximately 116 x 19mm. Alternatively the meter can be surface mounted.

Platon Infra-Red Flow Alarm For Glass Vas:

Platon Floscan sensors use an infra-red beam across the glass flowtube of a Variable Area (VA) flowmeter. Passage of the float between the sensor arms is detected, and logic within the electronics determines whether the float is above or below the sensor position. Electronics inside the sensor module gives an open drain transistor output, suitable for external logic circuits.

Suitable for all gas flows, and liquid flows where the float is visible, the sensor is clipped to the back of the flowmeter frame, typically on a Platon NG/NGX Series (normal 100mm scale) or LG/LGX series (miniature 30mm scale) VA meter.

Platon Mains Interface Relay Module:

The Floscan Mains Interface Relay Module is a DIN rail/surface mounted unit that provides DC power for one or two GIR (Floscan) Infra-red flow alarm sensors, from any mains power source. Each sensor output drives a relay in the module, al-lowing external signalling via the 8 Amp voltage free relay contacts. The two Floscan sensors can be high or low flow alarms (dictated by the sensor orientation) and can be on the same flowmeter tube, or on separate flowmeters. Relay status as well as set-up status are displayed by LED indicators.
The module can also be used to power and monitor alarm outputs from the GMTXD Transmitter.

Platon FCV – Fine Control Valve:

A selection of fine control needle valves suitable for gradual opening and closing of gas or liquid flows. Suitable for use with all Platon glass Tube VA flowmeters, the standard FCV is rated at up to 25 bar line pressure. As with all control valves the FCV is not designed for total leak free shut off.

Scale Glass Tubes & Float For Gas & Water, 30/100mm:

The LG/LGX range of Glass Tube Flowmeters typically use the 30mm scale length borosilicate glass tube and a float. Based on the well known variable area (VA) principle of low measurement, these flowmeters provide clear, simple and reliable operation.

Platon Glass Tubes are individually scaled and calibrated according to customer’s requirements. Custom scales are produced using our “Reynolds Curve” prediction software, which uses air or water calibration data corrected for the effects of temperature and pressure on the density and viscosity of the working fluid.
